An in-depth look at how Mesh helps clients succeed

Project

Engineering documentation for an alpha release of a new platform architecture.

Goals

• Within three weeks, deliver a well-written and professional-looking programmer's guide and specification guide.

• Streamline future releases and help reduce production costs by providing refined templates for use by engineering staff.

Challenges

• Rewrite more than 100 pages of documentation and specifications for clarity and consistency.

• Create a uniform voice across documents. The original drafts were written by different authors; some with as many as five engineers contributing to a single document.

• Get review comments from engineers and other reviewers, both locally and nationally, in one day to meet a tight schedule.

Solution

Mesh Communications Group had no time for spin-up. This project needed technical communicators who could hit the ground running using their savvy with the technologies described in the documentation and their engineering experience.

In addition to the core task of rewriting and unifying the content, Mesh:

• Gave the documents refined, consistent styles.

• Professionally designed covers for each document that adhered to the client's corporate design guidelines.

• Added bookmarks to the final PDF documents for ease-of-use online.

Results

• Mesh delivered final documents 4 days early and 10% under budget, even as the schedule was pulled in at the last minute.

• Professionally designed templates are now in place for future phases of the project to reduce editing and production costs and maintain consistency of the documents.
